Magnolia High School has been my second home for the past three years. In these past three years, I have never experienced such exponential growth personally and professionally. Personally, I got married, moved into a home, welcomed our daughter(!!) into this world, and became more confident in accepting aspects of who I am. Professionally, I became a better educator (and will always work towards being a better one daily), loved my students and community, started adjuncting at local colleges, and led an amazing science department.
I’ve never felt so supported and aligned to a school, district, mission, vision, and values as I have these past three years. This is partially because I’ve grown to understand myself more and become more deeply rooted in my own mission and vision, which has aligned with my wonderful district. This alignment and belief in my community is what propelled my professional growth. I’m really proud to work in the community I live in, a district I believe in, and with students I love.
Magnolia is a school that will hold a special place in my heart forever. It’s the first school that I’ve worked at since moving to Orange County after getting married. It’s a school with so many incredible mentors and individuals that I look up to that also share the same love for our kids that I do. I’m thankful for these past three years and will cherish the memories I made here as I move onto my next adventure.
I never fully know when to move on, but with each move that I make, it comes with a period of exponential growth as I meet new people, philosophies, systems, structures, and cultures. As a strong introvert, it’s always difficult, but I’m always thankful. This time is a little different than the rest because I’m not just moving schools, but I’m changing roles to be an assistant principal. It’s both at once and it makes me nervous and excited at the same time. But I know it’s time and I’m ready for my next adventure and period of exponential growth and learning with the foundation of STEM Prep Schools and Magnolia High School to build upon. More than anything, I’m just excited to meet the amazing individuals at my new site and the experiences to come ☺
